Baseball: Game vs. Indian Hills at Indian Hills High School

Pascack Valley 7 Indian Hills 6

Valley’s bats got off the bus ready to hit, as the Indians jumped out to an early lead with six runs in the first inning. Mike Pimpinella led off the game with a walk. After Matt Novakowski was hit by a pitch and Frankie Cascio drew a walk, the bases were loaded with only one out. Not wasting a chance to grab an early lead, Jack Devanna delivered a single which brought in two runs. Carson Weis followed Devanna with an RBI double. Now with two outs, Alex Criscuolo singled to knock in two more runs. Riley Weis’s RBI single rounded out the scoring for Valley in the first. However, Indian Hills didn’t waste any time getting back into the game. They scored two runs in the first inning, and another three in the second off of Indian’s starter Riley Weis. Weis only lasted two innings. Paul Sowinski came into the game to start the third, and managed to quiet the Indian Hills offense. He allowed only one run in three innings of work. With the game now tied at 6, Pimpinella led off the top half of the sixth inning with a single. Soon, he was on third, after stealing both second and third. He was able to score the go-ahead and eventual winning run on an overthrow by the catcher. After a scoreless sixth inning from Jordan Issackedes, Pimpinella came in to close out the game in the seventh. He made things interesting by loading the bases, but he was able to get out of the jam and nail down the victory. Sowinski earned the victory in relief.

Next Game: It was announced late Monday night that Pascack Valley had made the Bergen County Tournament. As a result, the eighteenth seeded Indians will travel to the fifthteenth seed, Waldwick, on Wednesday afternoon. Should they be victorious, they would play Don Bosco, the two seed, on Saturday.

Softball: Game vs. Indian Hills at Pascack Valley High School.

Indian Hills 8 Pascack Valley 0

Pascack Valley’s struggles continued on Monday. Freshman Cara McMahon pitched for Valley, allowing eight runs. Her offense didn’t do her any favors, as they were stymied by Indian Hills, failing to push a run across. The highlight of the day offensively for the Indians was a line-drive double to the fence by Alex Pleasic. Christine Franklin also made a stellar catch in the field behind McMahon.

Next Game: Valley will look to improve in all facets of the game when they host River Dell for Senior Day on Tuesday.

Boys Golf: Divisional Match

Despite their lowest round of the season, Valley came in third place in their Division. Once again, Will Gallagher led the way for PV, shooting 39. Calvin Ralph had a solid performance for the Indians, as he shot 40. On the second hole, Ralph eagled from 100 yards out. TJ Gallagher also had a good afternoon, shooting 41. The Indians are now 9-12 on the season after a rough patch to start their season, they have now won 5 of their last 7 head to head matches.
