Indians defeat River Dell in bounce-back game

Valley wins 4-1 in league game on Senior Night

Coming off a shutout loss on Saturday, Pascack Valley boys soccer needed a bounce back win. On Wednesday night the Indians got just that, defeating River Dell 4-1 in a league game on what was also their senior night.

Two of Valley’s four goals came within less than seven minutes of each other, both coming from senior Nick Londono.

“We were able to finish our [scoring] chances when we got them,” Londono said.

“It was nice that [Londono] was able to finish when he got into those spots,” Coach Luciano Cofrancesco said.

Londono’s goals gave Pascack Valley a 3-0 lead, with the Indians’ only other goal coming from senior Ryan Mastowski about midway through the first half.

Although Valley won 4-1, Cofrancesco believes there is still room for some improvement.

“[The defense] took care of what they needed to,” Cofrancesco said. “I’m glad we only gave up one [goal], but I feel like we can give up zero.”

Late in the second half the Indians added to their lead, with their final goal of the game coming from senior Dallas O’Connor.

Pascack Valley will play their next game on Sunday at 11:00, which will be their first game in the Bergen County Tournament. The Indians will play the winner of the game between Paramus and Tenafly, which takes place on Thursday at 5:30 in Paramus.

“We know we have a job to do on Sunday, and we know our responsibilities,” Cofrancesco said. “I’m glad we took care of business [tonight] so we can take care of business on Sunday.”

“We have to play well and play up to our potential,” Londono said. “It all starts [on Sunday].”
