The Pascack Valley Class of 2019 submitted songs that they feel best represented their four years in high school. The Smoke Signal asked students in a Google Form to provide songs that they found to be most nostalgic, their all-time favorites, or most representative of their time at PV.

Comments From Seniors

“The colors of the Pascack Pi-oneers are black and yellow. Great pre-tournament song!” said senior Luke Barden about the song “Black and Yellow” by Wiz Khalifa.

“This song was our favorite stand tune to play freshman year during the 2015-16 football season in the marching band,” said senior Taylor McNiff about a-ha’s song “Take on Me.” “We have so many memories associated with it and absolutely loved playing it and listening to the recordings captured at the football games (which can be found on YouTube). For the past 3 years even though we haven’t been able to play it in the stands due to a lack of trumpet section, before every football game we would always sing take on me in the band room or on the bus. It was one of our many iconic songs but for the band members of 2019 it was our favorite memory.”

“‘Shallow’ is my all-time sing-along song,” senior Kayla Barry said. “I play both Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. ‘American Teen’ is just the ultimate teenager song. Khalid is my life. ‘Runaway’ really just makes me feel good. It is about getting away and just finding your life. I love it.”

“Just summarizes my senior year at PV. Had a lot of great memories this year of blasting those songs in my friend’s car as we all drove on the highway with the windows down :),” senior Giovanna Moralishvili said about Queen’s songs “I Want to Break Free” and “Don’t Stop Me Now.”

“It was the song the swim team listened to before every meet,” said Brendan Broesler about “Dive In The Pool – Radio Edit” by Barry Harris.

“After this year, I’d say the class of 2019 has really come together and we did a lot more this year then our whole time at PV,” senior Matt Mugno said, who submitted “Congratulations” by Post Malone.
