Hutchinson named PV’s permanent principal

The Board of Education approved Brian Hutchinson, the Emerson Junior-Senior High School principal, as Pascack Valley’s permanent principal for the 2020-2021 school year at its meeting Monday afternoon. Over 70 community members, students, and teachers expressed their disappointment at the board’s decision to not choose John Puccio, PV’s assistant principal for the past 12 years, for the position.

Following the Board of Education executive meeting Monday night, Superintendent Erik Gundersen notified the community in an email Tuesday morning of its decision to cancel international school trips for the 2019-20 school year due to COVID-19 risks. A virtual day plan was also approved by the New Jersey Board of Education if school closure is enforced by the state.
